The story of EVA actually contains a vast amount of information. This classic work can be interpreted through various aspects such as religious studies, color theory, and the connections between characters. Among these, one constant is the "communication" between characters.
The protagonists are set at 14 years old when they first appear, an age that in the spiritual cycle represents the beginning of independent thought. However, all the characters in the work constantly struggle with and suppress traumas they have suffered in the past, and while closing off their inner selves, they must also connect with others. In the constant conflicts of communication, they not only feel distressed about their self-worth and relationships with others but also develop complex emotions (berserk/confusion...). Therefore, the design is themed "Communication Conflict," outlining what thoughts are going through the mind during a berserk state.
The chosen colors, black, purple, and green, are Unit-01's color scheme, and also the alien-like technological color scheme presented in 80s/90s animation. The main image is a grand scene of arrival, with designed brainwave graphics. The background colors mimic the atmosphere of the old TV version when broadcast on screen. Following the "Communication Conflict" after trauma, simply put, it's a layout with representative colors. If you want to delve deeper, it's like pondering what thoughts are in the mind~ There are complex and inexpressible ones.
